So this is the last bodice I am making before Pennsic. I still need to put the eyelets in the one fairy bodice I made, hopefully later today. For now though...
This is a blog I created to post my creative projects. I write as well as do fine and graphic art and crafts. Enjoy.

Choli
So I had these wonderful linen pants I hand sewed one Pennsic MANY years ago. After I got home I washed them and they shrunk WAY down. I was so sad, but I decided to reuse the fabric and turned it into this Choli top.

Micro Suede Skirt
So, I bought this absolutely gorgeous soft purple micro suede to make a skirt with. The pattern was going to be simple. 3 Rectangles (length x 1/3 hips + seam allowance), 2 triangles (made from other piece of fabric so slightly shorter than the rectangles) and a waist band.
I made the first cut, separating the length of the rectangles from the other piece which was about 2/3 and set both pieces aside after cutting off the waist band and then the phone rang. When I came back I sat down and thought I had set the part to be cut into triangles to my left, so I grabbed that piece and cut the triangles... Nope, that was supposed to be the rectangles. So now the pieces that were supposed to make up my waistline are cut wrong and the other piece isn't going to work right... So, I do what I always do and fixed it as artistically as I can. Once I had the entire thing together I measured from the band to the end of each 'corner' around the bottom to get an even length, cut and hemmed.
After hemming it and trying it on I realized it was a good 5 inches too short so I went back to JoAnn's and bought another half yard of the fabric (thank goodness for 50% off sales!) I used the entire cut for a ruffle along the bottom and honestly I think it makes the skirt pop. I really wish I could get better pictures, but here it is:

Pixie Bodice 2
This is the second pixie bodice I made. It is a blue and silver brocade with white trim. I forgot how much of a pain in the butt working with brocade is and I had to stop a few times because I pricked myself and didn't want to get blood on the white!

Pixie Bodice
I finally got the eyelets in the half bodice and put it on. Going to alter the pattern ever so slightly to tighten is a tad. Otherwise it came out awesome. I apologize for the low quality pics but it's a really overcast day and even with the overhead lights on it's dark in here.

Bodices
I made myself 2 new bodices for wearing to SCA events. One is a half "Pixie Bodice" and the full one is based off a Moresca Fairy Bodice. The half one is completely of my own design. I drafted the pattern up from my measurements so it would fit perfectly. It was such a quick and easy sew I plan to make a few more for Pennsic War! So, here's the images. Once I get the grommets in and can lace them up I will get some pictures of them on.
